June 2014 | Bronson Herman & Taylor West | World Cup Art Project

Students and visiting volunteers used Chinese paper lanterns to paint the colors of the countries participating in the World Cup, while other students painted the lanterns with the names of the Jóvenes Luchadores members. During the painting process students were asked questions about why they selected specific colors or styles. Students practiced mixing colors to create others and also exercised patience with each other as there weren’t enough brushes for each participant, so small groups shared and took turns painting. After the completion of the lanterns they were hung inside the community center while some were hung outside of the center.
