>> Join our Teacher Internship Program
The Cambio Creativo Internship is designed for volunteers who want to gain experience in service-learning and teaching in a cross-cultural program. We accept interns for our Teacher Intern position throughout the year, and expect volunteers to participate in the program ideally for at least 3 months. Interns run Cambio Creativo’s after-school program three days a week, and coordinate workshops, at our community center in Coco Solo. There is also housing for interns at our small residency in Portobelo. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to travel and learn through experience. The role of the Teaching Internship is to help run Cambio Creativo’s after-school educational and arts program in Coco Solo. The Teacher Intern will work with local staff to direct literacy education, creative arts programming, and/or English classes during after school hours for students (between the ages 5 and 18 years) at least 3 days a week. Volunteers will also be given the opportunity to develop curriculum, workshops, and experiential learning activities based on their own interests and skill sets, in collaboration with the Cambio Creativo team. This is a part-time unpaid volunteer position ideal for someone looking to gain experience living and teaching abroad, wanting to improve their Spanish skills, or for an education-focused internship, without having to pay program fees. In addition to facilitating after-school education, volunteers are encouraged to work with local staff to carry out other project initiatives (like helping with the continuing education program or with community development projects).
Cambio Creativo asks for a minimum commitment of three months, although we highly encourage our volunteers to stay longer. We expect this position to take about 20 to 25 hours per week.
